ModernMix, by Stardock Software, Inc., is a utility for Windows 8 and 8.1 that lets you run Modern/Metro-style apps in resizable, movable desktop windows. It integrates those apps with the taskbar and Alt+Tab switcher, adds familiar window controls (minimize, maximize, close), and allows you to pin Modern apps to the taskbar for quick access. You can set a preferred display mode—windowed or full screen—on a per-app basis, and ModernMix remembers your last window size and position. With multi-monitor support and smooth interaction alongside traditional desktop programs, it helps keyboard-and-mouse users multitask more effectively and bridge the gap between the Modern UI and the desktop.
Note: ModernMix targets the Windows 8 era. Newer versions of Windows natively support running Store apps in desktop windows, making ModernMix largely unnecessary on those systems.
ModernMix is developed by Stardock Software, Inc.. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 1.1 and 1.2. The name of the program executable file is MMixConfig.exe.
